Nancy and her husband John have just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. She has two sons John Jr., married to Nichole and has two sons, Johnny, 9 and Nicholas, 6. Son Brian is married to Sharon and are the parents to the only grand-daughter, Clara Dale, 15 months.
Prior to attending nursing school Nancy was a stay at home mom for 17 years. She was very active in her church and community. After the death of her daughter in 1993, Nancy completed nursing school and graduated in 1996. The love for her patients and their families introduced her to the nursing specialty of parish nursing where she left hospital work and served in several churches as a parish nurse and health education.
Nancy continued her education and attended Bluefield College, Bluefield, VA earning her BS in Behavioral Science. As an adult learner Nancy continued her education where she earned her Master of Divinity from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond VA (2010) in Pastoral Care and Doctor of Ministry from Campbell University School of Divinity (2017), Buies Creek, NC in Pastoral Care. She has completed chaplain residency at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA.
In addition to serving as a parish nurse and hospital chaplain, Nancy has served in churches in Virginia as Associate Pastor to Senior Adults and Pastoral Care and Associate Pastor. She is currently the Administrator at the Blackwater Baptist Association of Virginia where she is working with 23 churches.
Currently, Nancy facilitates and teaches grief and bereavement classes at R.W. Baker Funeral Home and Crematory in Wakefield and Suffolk, VA. She is available as a speaker, group facilitator, life coach. She frequently does pulpit supply.
